M3 Lee by MercenaryGraphics M3 Lee by MercenaryGraphics

M3 Lee was an American medium tank used during World War II. The M3 General Lee tank was developed in a hurry after the Battle of France. It decided to create a transitional vehicle which could be put into production as soon as possible. It was the progenitor of the M4 Sherman.

It saw service with the USA, British Empire, Soviet, Indian, Brazilian armed forces.

It was also the star of a great WWII film:

Sahara (1943)

Memorable Quote:

"Now wait a minute professor. There's just three things wrong with that statement. First, were not running away, we're obeying orders. Second. She's not made of tin. And third, She's no hearse. She's an M-3 air-cooled job that can cross two hundred miles of desert as easily as you'd walk around that Piccadilly Circus of yours I don't want to stand here arguing with you. Stick around if you want, Let the Nazis mop you up. You can spend the rest of the war in a prison camp in Berlin. But not me. When I go into Berlin I'm going to riding that tank. The same one that's standing there with the name Lulu Belle written on her. I'm sorry I blew just now, cept that crack the guy made about my tank, kinda burned me. She's a good tank. I'll tell you once again. We just got it over the radio we're surrounded and the only way out is south. That's the way we're going."

Sgt. Gunn aka Humphrey Bogart

Well yeah! The cinematography is outstanding. The dialogue is a little stiff, but there moments of excellent character development.
Plus Tank!

Also starred in Spielberg's forgotten comedy 1941, responding to the riots in Hollywood.

That is why I included Humphrey Bogart and Dan Aykroyd in the crew (Sgt. Gunn & Sgt Tree).

Both their M3's were named Lulubelle.
