Doolittle Raidby ~MercenaryGraphics

This is an updated version of the piece I did for the Doolittle raid.

This piece is dedicated to the 70th Anniversery of the Doolittle Raid.

The Raid was a total secret to all involved and the members of the raid were chosen by volunteering for a "dangerous secret mission". 16 B-25 twin engine bombers were to take off from the deck of the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet and bomb Japan mainland.

This piece was created in Illustrator CS and is entirely vector.
The shading was rendered using the blend tool between different vector shapes, and a some use of the gradient and transparency tools.

They paid the Japanese back somewhat for Pear Harbor by attacking the mainland in a daring attack.
